Parts One (the Self) and Six (Farewell) make the book worth downloading and reading - even for an adult a bit past prime. I wish I had reflected wisely on those topics at an much earlier age of twenty or thirty. I did find much of the truth written here, but not the easy way.This pen and ink writes practical wisdom that could help some avoid a lot of suffering, and a lot of stewing about how the world is. Even at my age, I found those parts to be thought provoking.
It avoids completely any descent into religious dogma that dooms most other efforts of this kind.
I skimmed the other parts about marriage and parenthood, perhaps because I think them unlikely to be usefully convincing to young adults fueled by hormones and ambition -- or perhaps its just that the advice in those areas is no longer materially relevant to me.
Even with that, the book prompts thinking about what accumulated, distilled wisdom one would one to leave to younger generations. This book has some good ideas to spur that thinking.
